Repair: 67 Telecaster Bridge Pickup
This is a very typical problem with Telecaster bridge pickups... Sweat form the player gets on the pickup causing the magnet
to rust. This rust creates a rough surface and also starts to eat at the coating on magnet wire which eventually shorts out
the pickup.
As I received it the cotton string was removed by the customer to see it the outer winds were the problem. |

With the wire cut off you can see the rust on the magnet. I tried to get a picture of the rust on the wire but
could not get a good picture. |

Here is the rewound pickup. I removed all the rust then sprayed with clear lacquer to limit future rust. |
Finished with cotton wrap. 6.5k |
